The program features diverse musical styles, including contemporary, hip-hop, pop, rock, jazz, sound art, and classical music. For the 2024/25 season, three musical residencies have been awarded.
Under the artistic direction of Néstor Fabián Cortés Garzón, this year’s residency includes two musical groups: the Bremer Barockorchester and Los Temperamentos. The Bremer Barockorchester is composed exclusively of specialists in historical performance practice, focusing on Baroque and Classical orchestral repertoire. In contrast, the ensemble Los Temperamentos is internationally renowned for its unique fusion of Latin American and European musical traditions.
Ensemble New Babylon derives its name from the idea of bringing people together from diverse backgrounds through music, in order to discover beauty in the unfamiliar and the new. A core mission of the 16-member ensemble is to use the emotional power of music to foster greater tolerance and understanding towards the „other.“
The franz ensemble brings together award winners of the ARD Music Competition, professors, artistic directors of renowned festivals, successful soloists, and accomplished chamber musicians. This collective is dedicated to exploring the extensive repertoire for unique and larger ensembles. With wind, string, and keyboard instruments, the franz ensemble achieves remarkable versatility in instrumentation, giving both core repertoire and undiscovered gems of music literature a fresh and vibrant voice.
[hanse]Pfeyfferey is composed of Laura Dümpelmann, Lilli Pätzold, and Alexandra Mikheeva. Playing cornett, shawm, and sackbut, they bring the music of the 15th and 16th centuries into the present. Following the tradition of the once-ubiquitous city pipers, their work emphasizes performances in urban spaces—favoring Renaissance music played on rooftops, towers, and streets.
The performance halls are also available to external performing artists and ensembles from Bremen, enhancing the vibrant cultural presence at the Zentrum für Kunst with 90 performances each season.

To qualify for a residency, applicants must be professionally active, independent artists residing in Bremen. A compelling application is required, including a description of project ideas or productions. Each project must be performed at the Zentrum für Kunst at least twice during the one-year residency. There are no age limits or additional restrictions.
A rotating panel will adjudicate the applications and award the residencies, focusing on diversity, variety, and gender balance. Projects are judged equally on quality and originality.
