Performing Arts

As part of our one-year residency programs, performing artists from Bremen have the opportunity to utilize the professional rehearsal spaces and performance halls at the Zentrum für Kunst for the development of their solo or ensemble projects. The results of this timeframe are regularly presented to the public as  performances in the context  of our professional programming, ranging from interdisciplinary projects, theatre, storytelling, children and youth theatre, and contemporary dance. During the 2023/24 season, four residencies were awarded in the performing arts category by a professional jury.

To qualify for a residency, applicants must be professionally active, independent artists residing in Bremen. A compelling application is required, including a description of project ideas or productions. If accepted, each project must be performed at the Zentrum für Kunst at least twice during the one-year residency. There are no age limits or additional restrictions.

A rotating panel awards residencies, with a focus on diversity, variety, and gender balance. Projects are judged equally on quality and originality.
